Basically, Kuraima is the body-guard of Clarice (although the samurai usually acts more as a personal servant than anything else...). Very loyal and obsessively obedient, he's a marionette to his master's point of view, a mindless warrior who does everything she tells him to do. He doesn't dislike his job, though, once he enjoys Clarice's company pretty much...

Besides, he really doesn't know any other life.
